The week beginning Monday 5th of  May is sun awareness week.

Time to put your shades on and get ready for safe fun in the sun. But did you know that there are three types of  harmful UV rays can damage the long term health of your eyes.

You wouldn’t go outside in the hot midday sun without some sort of sunscreen on our skin, protecting your eyes from burning is just as important.

Looking good, staying safe and seeing clearly in the sun is easy at Michael Lowe. We stock a wide range of sunglasses that will block out the harmful rays that cause damage to your eyes.

More than just a fashion accessory, but a necessity.

Top Tips

  1. Wear hats that protect your face and neck, a pair of UV protective sunglasses and spend time in the shade between 11am to 3pm when sunny.
  2. When choosing a sunscreen, experts suggest a high protection SPF – 30 or more will protect against harmful rays.
  3. Sunscreen should be applied generously 15 to 30 minutes before going out in the sun, and should be reapplied every two hours – and after swimming or towel-drying.
  4. Parents are also advised to keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight.
